RESPIRATION is a performance conducted by Liv Pflug and Lil Lacy, researching the connections between breathing, presence, movement, sound and words in the aesthetic setting of natural light and smoke. As a contrast to the high speed of the society RESPIRATION searched for ways to provoke a presence through an analogue approach to the expression. The RESPIRATION ensemble worked intensively March through August 2014 to develop a performance where every note and movement sprung directly from the impulse of breathing - set in the frames of Summer '80 by Marguerite Duras. Through physicality and music the performance took the audience on a journey, digesting the cultural impressions of today. The scenographer and visual dramaturg Jon R. Skulberg composed a sensing space, in changing atmospheres, which framed the site-specific performance, developed exclusively for the Live Art Venue at Warehouse9. As an introduction and outro to the performance Jakob Vinkler from Smag in Ebeltoft created a unique food event, relating close to the atmospheres, smoke and words of Marguerite Duras.

In 2014, the performance RESPIRATION was performed in Mayhem, Northwest and Warehouse9, Kødbyen.
It was a performance which was created through devising. The show was created from personal experiences of breathing through 5 peoples’ very different lives. Music and performance fused to the concept: Concert in movement. The frame for the performance was inspired by Marguerite Duras' work L'ete '80, which takes place on a beach in France in the summer of 1980. The intuitive goes hand in hand with the concrete and melt together like waves in the ocean. All the characters are described through explanation of the weather, sea, sand, wind and sky. The chef and food artist Jakob Vinkler used strong references to these details in the food event, which was associated with the RESPIRATION performance in Warehouse9 during Cph Jazz Festival 2014.
