ABOUT THE PIECE
The piece Fluidity of Matter and Life is inspired by natural phenomena of water in transformation in Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Denmark, as well as an ode to the journey through life and a celebration of lived experience.
The piece is inspired by the experience of a life, a lifetime of experience, a celebration of wisdom through lived life.
The first part of the piece represents the time before one is born; the journey of the soul and the development of pregnancy and actual birth. From letter F and onwards every 15 seconds resembles 1 year of lived life from age 0 to 80+ years. A free interpretation of the energy, development, complexity, tempo and inner reflection of a life. The last part of the piece (from letter L1) leads into reflection of the past, experiencing past experiences in a new light, a broader perspective and a celebration of the wisdom gained through a lived life – maybe heading into the future, the beyond, making a complete circle of life and energy.
So many young people feel isolated, left alone and detached from others. I hope we will remember the wisdom we can gain from dialogues between generations (not judging the different perspectives but simply listening and sharing - and using what one needs, and letting the rest be. Each life, perspective, reality and time of a generation changes). Parallel to this journey through life, the piece explores the materiality of water as: solid (ice), gas (a stream evaporating into the air) and liquid (rain and ocean tides) - in natural phenomena that I have experienced during 2024-2025 in Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Denmark.
Thank you for being part of making this piece live and resonate.
Best regards, Lil Lacy
